Refunds, Cancellations, and Class Credit

What is KTBYTE's refund and cancellation policy?

Before the first class, students can cancel their registration. After payment, students can cancel and get a refund after a first class, but they will be charged the cost of a class session and incur a $50 refund processing fee. If a student cancels after the initial opportunity, their remaining balance will be posted to their account as class credit for future uses at KTBYTE.

How can I use my class credit?

If you have class credit, it is non-transferable and does not expire. We will keep a record of it in your account, and you can apply it to any KTBYTE purchase.

Is there a late payment fee?

Yes, a $25 late fee will apply two weeks after class starts.

What is the Early Bird discount policy?

Once registration begins, the early bird discount policy extends to one month before semester starts. In order to be qualified for the early bird discount, you must also pay before the discount expires. For example, if the early bird discount expires on 8/11, payment must also be received by that date. Contact inquiry@ktbyte.com if you have questions about this.

Are there any other discounts available?

We offer a $30 off referral discount for each new student you introduce to KTBYTE, which means that if you introduce 10 students, you get $300 off your next registration! A 5% sibling discount will also automatically be applied if a parent registers more than one child under the same parent account within the semester.

Who will I be working with at office hours?

Office hours are led by our teaching assistants - highly qualified and accomplished students of KTBYTE who have a strong teaching ability. They have passed the course you are taking with flying colors, and have had many of the same questions you might have. They are a fantastic resource for your advantage!

When are office hours?

During the summer, office hours are Sun-Thurs from 7:15-8:15pm. During the rest of the year, office hours are everyday from 7:30-9:30pm.

Are office hours mandatory?

Office hours are not mandatory, but they are highly recommended. It is an easy and free way to get immediate feedback on your code. Our homework is difficult - office hours can help you overcome obstacles and develop a stronger understanding of the material!

Homework Policy

Are all assignments mandatory?

We want to give you the best experience possible. Assignments are an essential portion of this. You don't have to solve every single problem in your problem sets, but our instructors expect that you will have, at the very least, attempted each problem!

I'm having a hard time juggling my school work and my KTBYTE assignments. Do you have any tips on how to balance my work?

The greatest improvement you can make in your time management is to not procrastinate. Schedule a time every day of the week to work on both your school and KTBYTE assignments. If you hash through small, reasonable, chunks of work every single day, we have no worries that you will be able to complete all your assignments. Time management is an essential skill for school, college, and the work force. Imagine how ahead you will be if you master time management now!

Can I get an extension?

If you know ahead of time that you are going to need an extension for an assignment because of a specific event, you can let us know and, in most cases, we can arrange an extension for you. However, if you give instructors less than a few days of notice, it may not be possible for you to receive an extension.

How do I make up homework if I have to miss class?

If you have to miss class, you will often have to make up the homework. Talk to your instructor: the answer can vary depending on your progress, understanding, and coding background. You still have to submit homework on time. New homework will be assigned for the regular class group and if you need an extension we can arrange that.

For Parents

When is the best time to contact KTBYTE?

The best time to reach KTBYTE staff will be between the hours of 2-8pm. You can also always email us at inquiry@ktbyte.com or WeChat us and we will get back to you within two business days.

How do I check my student's progress?

Under each student's account, we have a progress report on which you can track their assignment completion and grades. We send this link out in the course updates, but if you ever have trouble finding this link, reach out by sending an email to inquiry@ktbyte.com.

When will I receive the recommendation for my child's next class?

During the last month of class, you will receive a recommendation for which class your child should take next by email. However, if you want to know earlier than this for scheduling purposes, you can call and ask one of the staff. Although we may not be able to give you a complete answer, as we need to see the majority of test/quiz grades before making a decision, we can definitely give you a general idea and help answer any scheduling or registration questions that you may have.

Why has my student been recommended to repeat a class?

Every student has different strengths and weaknesses. Some classes, especially at the more advanced levels, will prove to be intensely difficult for some students. If we can see that a student is severely struggling with material, we will recommend that they continue taking the course. Each semester, instructors switch up the homework assignments and projects to keep the classes interesting and fun. If a student repeats a class, it will cover the same general concepts and material, but it will not be identical to the previous course.
