Before the first class, students can cancel their registration. After payment, students can cancel and get a refund after a first class, but they will be charged the cost of a class session and incur a $50 refund processing fee. If a student cancels after the initial opportunity, their remaining balance will be posted to their account as class credit for future uses at KTBYTE.
If you have class credit, it is non-transferable and does not expire. We will keep a record of it in your account, and you can apply it to any KTBYTE purchase.
Yes, a $25 late fee will apply two weeks after class starts.
Once registration begins, the early bird discount policy extends to one month before semester starts. In order to be qualified for the early bird discount, you must also pay before the discount expires. For example, if the early bird discount expires on 8/11, payment must also be received by that date. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions about this.
We offer a $30 off referral discount for each new student you introduce to KTBYTE, which means that if you introduce 10 students, you get $300 off your next registration! A 5% sibling discount will also automatically be applied if a parent registers more than one child under the same parent account within the semester.
If you forget your username or password, simply email email@example.com with your name and class info and we will resolve the issue for you.
If you have questions about homework, you have a few options. You can attend Office Hours, and ask the TA on call to help with your assignments. That is the most effective method to get personalized help. Otherwise, you can send an email to your instructor, but a response may take longer.
If you know ahead of time that you are going to miss class, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org to notify the staff of what day/class you will be missing. Depending on the course, we could help you reschedule or even give you a video recording of the class you are missing.
Office hours are led by our teaching assistants - highly qualified and accomplished students of KTBYTE who have a strong teaching ability. They have passed the course you are taking with flying colors, and have had many of the same questions you might have. They are a fantastic resource for your advantage!
During the summer, office hours are Sun-Thurs from 7:15-8:15pm. During the rest of the year, office hours are everyday from 7:30-9:30pm.
Office hours are not mandatory, but they are highly recommended. It is an easy and free way to get immediate feedback on your code. Our homework is difficult - office hours can help you overcome obstacles and develop a stronger understanding of the material!
We want to give you the best experience possible. Assignments are an essential portion of this. You don't have to solve every single problem in your problem sets, but our instructors expect that you will have, at the very least, attempted each problem!
The greatest improvement you can make in your time management is to not procrastinate. Schedule a time every day of the week to work on both your school and KTBYTE assignments. If you hash through small, reasonable, chunks of work every single day, we have no worries that you will be able to complete all your assignments. Time management is an essential skill for school, college, and the work force. Imagine how ahead you will be if you master time management now!
If you know ahead of time that you are going to need an extension for an assignment because of a specific event, you can let us know and, in most cases, we can arrange an extension for you. However, if you give instructors less than a few days of notice, it may not be possible for you to receive an extension.
If you have to miss class, you will often have to make up the homework. Talk to your instructor: the answer can vary depending on your progress, understanding, and coding background. You still have to submit homework on time. New homework will be assigned for the regular class group and if you need an extension we can arrange that.
The best time to reach KTBYTE staff will be between the hours of 2-8pm. You can also always email us at email@example.com or WeChat us and we will get back to you within two business days.
Under each student's account, we have a progress report on which you can track their assignment completion and grades. We send this link out in the course updates, but if you ever have trouble finding this link, reach out by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the last month of class, you will receive a recommendation for which class your child should take next by email. However, if you want to know earlier than this for scheduling purposes, you can call and ask one of the staff. Although we may not be able to give you a complete answer, as we need to see the majority of test/quiz grades before making a decision, we can definitely give you a general idea and help answer any scheduling or registration questions that you may have.
Every student has different strengths and weaknesses. Some classes, especially at the more advanced levels, will prove to be intensely difficult for some students. If we can see that a student is severely struggling with material, we will recommend that they continue taking the course. Each semester, instructors switch up the homework assignments and projects to keep the classes interesting and fun. If a student repeats a class, it will cover the same general concepts and material, but it will not be identical to the previous course.

Some short term benefits are learning useful computer science concepts and building fun projects! Instructors try their best to make each class productive and interesting, so that the students can get the most out of their experience.
Almost all of our instructors are and most of them have years of experience teaching, coding, and working with computer science. They have worked at companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and more.
If your student is particularly motivated, enthusiastic, and is good at explaining difficult concepts in such a way that makes them very easy to understand, they can become a Teaching Assistant! After being a TA for one of our classes, other positions in more advanced roles are available. TAs will be compensated on an hourly rate, and this rate will be based on experience and reliability.
Our instructors spend many hours a week prepping for each individual class that they teach. Through our Virtual Machines, our instructors can see exactly what is on your student's screen during class, and can help them work through any obstacles they experience. Often, our instructors notice that a student is struggling with a problem before the student decides to ask a question about it.
